SEER, or the Seasonnal Energy Efficiency Ratio, is the ratio of the cooling output from an air conditioner throughout a typical cooling season, divided by the energy consumed in Watt-Hours. The benefit of a higher SEER rating is that it generally provides greater energy efficiency. In the state of Texas, the minimum SEER rating for all new systems is 14 SEER.
